Musical Keys and Eastern Ear presents MK Ensemble + MR AKA AMAZING + Luke Saunders

Join Norwich-based charity, Musical Keys, in celebrating inclusive, community-driven experimental music. The MK Ensemble consists of an ever-evolving group of artists with varied needs and interests to improvise with and explore electroacoustic music.

With performances from Luke Saunders and Mr AKA Amazing!
Mr AKA AMAZING .
Duane Warner (known as Mr AKA Amazing) makes distinctively vulnerable lo-fi hip-hop and distorted EDM, which he builds around voice notes using his phone.

His softly spoken lyrics are raw and vulnerable, often about feeling misunderstood, although when performing live he enters a hyped-up surrealist MC mode. Duane loves to collaborate, and recently stormed Bristol with an impromptu appearance with super-versatile drummer Dan Johnson, which has led to this first ever London appearance of the duo.

'Illegibility Mistakable: Master AKA Mr Amazing on Collapsing Drums collects several tracks from earlier, self-released albums – Think Big and Am I Being Unreasonable – into one righteous lump of lo-fi hiphop that’s somewhere between cLOUDDEAD and Adam Bohman. “MANGOBAY” sounds like someone wrestling with the ideas of life and relationships while speaking through a broken supermarket tannoy.' — Spenser Tomson, The Wire
Luke Saunders has been attending MK Ensemble since day one. With an interest in 90s American hip hop and a highly sensetive approach to improvising, Luke’s MCing is highly unique, bringing together rhythmic vocalisations and poetic phrases often about nature. This is Luke’s first public performance.
Based at Musical Keys’ Carrow House-based studio, the MK Ensemble is facilitated by a team of artists and musicians including David Ross, Chris Dowding, Judith Goodman, Cal Hailey, Mark Howe and Charlotte Arculus. The MK Ensemble have recorded music for an exhibition at the Sainsbury Centre and recently provided music as part of a show at London Fashion Week. This will be the groups second performance to coincide with a new album!
