An evening of improvised and experimental music from France and southern England, featuring a performance from a brand new trio and a rare outing for a new instrument, the only of its kind.
Thanks to funding from Diaphonique we are delighted to bring new trio Joindre to Norwich. Featuring free-improvising vocalists Phil Minton and Guylaine Cosseron alongside electronics improviser Emmanuel Lalande, the group explain:
Developing an experimental approach to the voice, the vocalists rely on its performative actions to try to define two new notions: the plastic song and the internal body. How can the voice make visible what escapes sight?
With Emmanuel Lalande at the electronics of the association pied nu in Le Havre, they require duality and complementarity between vocal performance and the digital tool. A poetic work that questions the relationship between humans and machines.
R.Dyer uses saxophone, saw, harp, found sounds, tape samples, looped vocals and synth to create mesmerising baroque pop laced with chaotic improvisation. Their debut album Little Victories was met with much acclaim on its release last year. They bring a deeply personal and original touch to all their live performances.
Blanc Sceol are a London-based duo that are interested in site-specific artistic explorations, reviving ancient sound technologies and creating new instruments. For this event they will be bring an exciting new instrument called Orbit.
